Edith Stein, philosopher of Jewish origin, is just one of many examples of famous people of culture who suffered the effects of racial laws in Germany: The recall also among the victims of the extermination camp at Auschwitz. His figure has come to the honor of the altars and is patron of Europe, under the name of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, taken after his conversion to Catholicism and the taking of religious vows.
